UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.Â
In a colossal victory over Concordia University St. Paul, University of Minnesota Duluth football defensive back
Jonathan Shrum was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Special Teams Player of the Week Monday.
The defensive back and kick returner started the Bulldogs' 61-point victory with an opening kickoff touchdown return, the program's first since 2023. In a 90-yard sprint, the Farmington, Minn. native dodged his way to the end zone to set the tone in what became the Bulldogs' first NSIC victory in a 61-7 rout of Concordia University St. Paul.
On two attempts, he earned a career high 111 yards between two returns and put up one solo tackle. He now ranks second in kick returns in the NSIC with a 43.7-yard average.
Shrum and the Bulldogs return to James S. Malosky Stadium to celebrate Military Appreciation Day in their first home game of the 2025 season. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. against Minnesota State University Mankato.
