Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

St. Cloud State Shuts Out No. 6 Bulldogs 6-0

St. Cloud State University got up early Friday night against the No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team and never relented, knocking off the Bulldogs 6-0 in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. in National College Hockey Conference.

The Huskies scored two goals in the first period, including one 6:13 into the game to build a 2-0 lead after the opening frame, and added a third at 6:50 of the second to push ahead 3-0 after 40 minutes.

But SCSU added a power play goal at 7:01 of the third, an empty net tally at 17:04 -- the second of the night from Tyler Gross --  and one final score at 18:56 to put the game far out of reach for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Huskies 42-26.

Sophomore goaltender Adam Gajan had 20 saves, while SCSU netminder Yan Shostak had 42. UMD lost faceoffs 31-21 and went 0-of-3 on its power play while the Huskies went 1-of-5 with an extra skater. Ty Hanson led all skaters with six shots on goal.

The Bulldogs (16-7-0, 7-6-0) will drop the puck with SCSU Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
