The University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's indoor track and field teams both took home team titles at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic in St. Paul, Minn. on the campus of Macalester College inside the Leonard Center.

Overall, the men's team recorded 168,5 points to dominate their side, while the women won with 110 points.Â

UMD had first place finishers and meet records all over the place, beginning with senior Brock Unger in the 60m (7.04) and a PR by freshman Nolan Bien in the 60m hurdles (8.38). Bien's time also ranks as the 94th fastest time in all of NCAA Division II so far this season.

Junior Brayden Brakke ran to a 22.60 win in the men's 200m, while sophomore Billy Auvin set a new meet record in the 400m with a time of 50.11. In the 800m, senior Fin Youberg won with a 1:57:41 effort to wrap up the running events.

On the field side, Will Heydt set his own meet record in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.88m. While Jackson Weston finished second in the men's shot put, his throw of 16.33 is now the 35th longest throw in the nation, while junior Noah Mitchell finished in third with a 15.84 – the 49th farthest throw this season.

On the women's side, the 4x400m relay made up of Avary Fitzpatrick, Emily Bastian, Emily Beaham, and Kate Fitzgerald set a meet record with a time of 3:59.81. Senior Madeline Verkerke set a meet record of her own in the 800m, running to a time of 2:15.43, while senior Kira Almsberger finished second in 3000m while setting a PR and running under the former meet record.

UMD will compete in two meets next Friday – the Mark Shuck Open in Mankato, Minn., or the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield, Minn.
