Hanson Named NCHC Defenseman of the Month for October

After an red-hot October campaign, University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey defenseman Ty Hanson was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Month on Wednesday by the league.

The junior from Hermantown, Minn. led the league with eight goals and three power play goals, and was tied for the league-high with 14 points. Hanson had four multiple point games and averaged 1.40 points per game over the month while also dishing out six assists. Third in points in the NCAA among all skaters, Hanson has the second most goals in the nation and added two game-winning goals and a shorthanded goal, recorded nine blocks and was +9 in in October.

Hanson earned three of the four possible NCHC Defensemen of the Week honors in October.

The Bulldogs will host Miami University (Ohio) this weekend at AMSOIL Arena. The Friday-Saturday series will get underway Friday at 7:07 p.m. before concluding at 6:07 p.m. Saturday.
