For a fifth time this season, University of Minnesota Duluth goaltender Ève Gascon has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week after the junior shut out the University of St. Thomas over the weekend at AMSOIL Arena.
The Mascouche, Quebec native earned her third-straight shutout in a row and seventh and eighth of the season over the weekend, keeping the Tommies off the scoreboard over the entire series and hasn't allowed a goal in 194:04 of action. Gascon was the lone league goaltender to post two shutouts and also helped keep UMD perfect in seven penalty kills in the series. Now tied for the second most shutouts in the NCAA and leads the WCHA, Gascon is the first UMD goaltender in history to record seven or more shutouts in two different seasons. Gascon also has 20 career shutouts -- tying her for the second most in program history.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season this weekend against the No. 3 University of Minnesota at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. Friday's contest gets underway at 6:00 p.m.
