The University of Minnesota Duluth Tennis Team picked up its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory of the 2026 season with a 4-3 win over MSU Moorhead Sunday morning at the Gillette Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn. The Bulldogs swept the competition in doubles and secured wins in three singles matches to earn the victory.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Courtney Eppen and
Olivia Gorton started the match with a 7-5 win over Luzmary Diaz and Sophia Felderman and the No. 2 doubles team of
Carly Chaney and
Paige Heideman followed with another 7-5 win over Katryna Hansen and Camilla Bonini.
Morgan Hammer and
Danica Silcox finished off the sweep with its own 7-5 win vs. Autumn Kron and Lydia Sparby at No. 3 doubles.
The Bulldogs also saw big wins from its No. 4 through No. 6 singles players. Heideman defeated Bonini 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles for her third-straight win and Silcox secured her first singles win with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kron at No. 5 singles. Gorton won a thriller at No. 6 singles vs. Sparby by a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
UMD returns to action next weekend when it travels to Fargo, N.D., for matches against Sioux Falls and Augustana on March 28 at 11:30 a.m. and March 29 at 10 a.m., respectively.
