Zam Plante had an impressive offensive run in the postseason, and Wednesday the National Collegiate Hockey Conference agreed, naming the center the NCHC Forward of the Month for March and April.
Plante led the conference with 10 points on four goals and six assists -- including two game- winning overtime goals on back-to-back nights against St. Cloud State University to begin the league's post season. The Hermantown, Minn. native ended the season on a career-long seven-game scoring streak (6g, 6a) with 12 points over that span, and posted three-games with two goals, including two in the first weekend in March in the current streak.
Three times Plante posted multiple point games, including two assists in UMD's close attempted comeback against the University of Michigan in the NCAA Tournament Albany Regional Final.
Plante finished the season as the NCAA's fifth-best scorer with 51 points on 20 goals and 31 assists (the seventh most in the nation). Plante had 10 power play goals (fourth most in the NCAA)Â with five game-winning goals, and a plus/minus rating of 16. His final time on ice average was 23:28 a game.Â
While this is Plante's first monthly conference honor, he was named an All-NCHC Third Team selection by the league this season.
