The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team is 2-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play after shutting out the University of Sioux Falls 2-0 on Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls, SD Sunday afternoon.

It took just 4:19 into the first half for the Bulldogs to continue their corner kick scoring spree when Nora Helvig buried a header off the kick from Marissa VanDeHei for the 1-0 lead.

While UMD was closer to the Cougars in shots (6-4 in the first half), the Bulldogs tipped the field in the second half with an 11-1 advantage. In the 47th minute, Jessica Eischens' shot from outside the 18-yard box found the net inside the far post to push UMD up 2-0.

USF's best chance off a cross midway through the second half was snuffed out by an incredible diving save from Edy Halverson, who made a save in each half for two over the game. Delani Daubman had nine for the Cougars, who were outshot 11-2 on goal and had a 6-5 corner kick advantage,fall to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the NSIC.

The Bulldogs (3-1-1, 2-0-0) will finally play their first home game of the season on Friday when they host Augustana University Friday on Griggs Field at 5:00 p.m.
