Nora Tallus, a junior forward, of the Bulldogs Women's Hockey team was named to Team Finland's roster for the 2004 World Championships that will be held in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia starting March 30, 2004 and running through April 6, 2004. Tallus was a member of last years Team Finland that was supposed to play in China. The event was canceled due to the threat of the SAR's virus.
The Kerava, Finland native, is not the only team member to be named to the roster. Suvi Vacker and Satu Kiipeli have both been named as Non-Travelling reserves for the defensive core of the team. Also joining Tallus in Canada will be fellow WCHA player Emma Laaksonen from Ohio State University. Laaksonen and Tallus are the only players joining Team Finland from United States teams.
UMD, now 19-11-2, 15-8-1 WCHA will be participating in the WCHA Final Five this coming weekend, with their first game against No. 2 seed Wisconsin at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2004. The games are being held in Minneapolis at Ridder Arena.
