The University of Minnesota Duluth's Michaela Lanzl was rewarded today for her tremendous effort over the weekend in the Bulldog's Western Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep of St. Cloud State University.
Lanzl, a freshman from Geretsreid, Germany, was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week after recording five points in UMD's series sweep of St. Cloud State.
On Friday, she earned assists on the game-tying and game-winning goal in the Bulldogs' come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Huskies.
Saturday, she recorded two goals, including the gamewinner, and added an assist as UMD again pulled out the victory in the third period.
The Bulldogs, now 3-1-0 overall and in the WCHA, will play The Ohio State University this weekend at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. The first puck will drop at 7:07 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and then again on Saturday, Oct. 22.
