So far, so good.
After being away from any on-ice warfare for nearly two seasons,
Ryan Geris decided last spring to return to the University of Minnesota Duluth program for his final collegiate go-around. The senior defenseman, who was beset with concussion-related injuries in both 2003-04 and 2004-05, sat out all of last year after announcing his departure from the game the previous year.
It didn't take long for Geris, who is affectionately known by his puckmates as \"Gramps\" (he turned 25 this past August), to make himself feel back at home this season. After picking up an assist in UMD's 8-1 exhibition game victory over Lakehead University, he scored once in the Bulldogs' 2006-07 season opener UMass-Lowell one week later and set up another goal the following evening.
