Getting on the scoreboard first, particularly in an age when goals have become an extremely precious commodity, is one of the keys to winning college hockey games and perhaps no individual in the WCHA has flourished more in this catalyst role this winter than
MacGregor Sharp. The University of Minnesota Duluth is unbeaten in 11 of the 15 games in which it has struck first this season and Sharp has personally given the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in five of those outings. As UMD enters the final weekend of the 2007-08 regular season, the junior center and Red Deer, Alberta native now finds himself sitting atop the Bulldog scoring charts with 17 points on seven goals and a team-high 10 assists. One of a league-leading eight Bulldogs to earn WCHA Scholar-Athlete honors for 2007-08, Sharp also ranks first among his puckmates in game winning goals and has put the second most shots on net of any Bulldog to date.
