If it's possible to follow up one breakout season with another, Kyle Schmidt is on his way to doing just that. One year ago, the University of Minnesota Duluth left winger increased his scoring harvest by over 400 percent from the previous winter racking up career-high 11 goals, including three game-winner, and two assists. In just 10 games this season, his final one in a UMD uniform, Schmidt already has nine points to his credit to go with a plus-five rating for the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs. A two-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete Award winner, who maintains a 3.66 cumulative grade point average, Schmidt also holds the distinction of having scored more even-strength goals over the past two seasons than any other current Bulldog (all but one of his 15 goals during that stretch have come in either four-on-four or five-on-five situations).
