He's the University of Minnesota Duluth's 2009-10 team captain, its Western Collegiate Hockey Association Student-Athlete of the Year Award nominee, resident blogger and all-around good guy. Drew Akins also happens to be one of four Bulldog seniors which means during the first intermission of this Saturday's showdown with the University of Minnesota, he'll be formally saluted as part of UMD's annual Senior Night festivities.
Statistically speaking, the Excelsior, Minn. product has saved some of his best hockey for last as his 2009-10 scoring line includes six goals, including four power play tallies, and 10 assists for a career-high 16 points in 32 games.
