The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball squad finds itself in the seventh spot in this week's NCAA Division II Central Region poll, released today (April 28).
The ranking, buoyed in part by a hard-fought four-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference split with then-league leader Winona State University this past Sunday and Monday, represent the second straight week the Maroon and Gold have been among the top eight teams in the region. Last week, the Bulldogs were ranked eighth - the first time they cracked the rankings in 2010.
UMD (30-18 overall; 18-10 in conference play) will finish its regular-season schedule this coming Saturday and Sunday (May 1 and 2), with a four-game NSIC set at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
The Bulldogs, who currently hold down fifth place in the league standings, will look to maintain their position among the NSIC squads; finishing in the top-six will guarantee a berth into the NSIC postseason tournament.
