His Bulldog career may be over, but Drew Akins isn't done playing hockey in Duluth.
This past Wednesday (March 31), the University of Minnesota Duluth senior center made his professional puck debut with the Gwinnett Gladiators, an East Coast Hockey League franchise located in Duluth, Ga. Akins, who served as team captain with the 2009-10 Bulldogs, put the wraps on his final collegiate go-around by racking up six goals and 11 assists for a career high 17 points. He has also doubled as the Bulldogs' resident blogger during the second half of this 2009-10 and his latest posting can be found by clicking here.
