The University of Minnesota Duluth reigned victorious in the border battle with the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday night, downing the Yellowjackets 73-58 at Romano Gym.

UMD (2-1) handed UWS (0-1) a loss in its season opener and improved to 89-44 all-time against its bridge rivals. Five Bulldogs hit double figures scoring, led by junior forward Kristofer Jackson who posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 first-half boards. Jackson also had a pair of blocks to add to his team-loading total. Senior guard Peter Crawford also hit 14 points, going four-for-five from the floor while adding four assists on the night.

Junior guard Junior Coleman and senior guard Reece Zoelle added 13 and 11, respectively in starts while senior Jordan Reetz brought ten points off the bench. Freshman center Lane Olson had eight boards in his home debut. UMD shot 64.7% from the floor in the second half to finished with a 51.0 shooting percentage in the game. On the defensive end, the Bulldogs held UWS to just 28.6% from the floor.

The Bulldogs hit the road for an exhibition meeting with the Green Bay Phoenix of NCAA I at 7:00 p.m.
