Former University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey players Jessica Wong and Katie Wilson were the top two overall selections in the 2013 Canadian Women's Hockey League draft.
Wong, a native of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, who graduated from UMD in May, was the first overall player taken in the draft and was selected by Alberta. She will join former Bulldog All-American Jocelyne Larocque, currently rostered with Alberta. Wilson, a forward out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who also graduated in May, was taken by Manitoba second overall. The two become the eighth and ninth former UMD alums currently playing in the CWHL, with Caroline Ouellette, Haley Irwin, Emmanuelle Blais and Noemie Marin playing for the Montreal Stars, Jessica Koizuni suiting up the Boston Blades and Tara Gray rostered with Brampton.
Wong captained the Bulldogs from the blueline last season and finished her career with 122 points on 48 goals and 74 assists in 143 games, inlcuding a program-best 29 goals as a defenseman. Wilson rounded out her career with 102 points on 38 goals and 64 assists over 143 skates.
