Box Score The University of Minnesota Duluth held its own against an experienced Minnesota State University-Moorhead squad, but the veteran Dragons stood tall late and knocked off the Bulldogs 76-71 at Romano Gym on Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
UMD (7-10, 5-8 NSIC) rlied on senior guard
Jordan Reetz in the first half, and throughout the game, as he went 5-of-9 and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line to tally 16 points in the opening frame. Neither team led by more than four in the first half as the teams went basket-for-basket. The Bulldogs shot an even 50.0 percent compared to 42.9 for MSU-Moorhead (13-4, 9-4 NSIC), but they went to the locker room knotted at 37-all.

Lane Olson laid in a basket with just over seven minutes to go. MSU-Moorhead notched a pair of late threes and showed its stout defense in the closing moments, stopping UMD on three possessions in the final four minutes and then making good on a pair of late free throws to knock off the Bulldogs by the final five-point margin.
Reetz finished with yet another strong night, adding 12 points in the second half for a game-high 28 along with another game-high of eight rebounds. Guards
Peter Crawford (Sr.) and
Reece Zoelle (Jr.) each had double-figures scoring for UMD, with Crawford adding 15 along with a pair of blocks and two assists on the night, and Zoelle 12 and five boards. UMD limited the chances for MSU top shooters Tarell Clark and Ubane Bingham, but Aaron Lien had 18 off the bench to lead the Dragons. UMD finished shooting 48.9 percent compared to just 41.7 percent for MSU, but 14 turnovers compared to just eight by the Dragons limited the Bulldogs' offensive opportunities.
The young Minnesota Duluth squad is back on the court tomorrow as they play host to Northern State University in another NSIC North Division match-up. Opening tip is set for 6:00 p.m. following the women's game.
