Box ScoreA less-than-fully-staffed University of Minnesota Duluth made its 2015-16 exhibition debut, falling 80-25 to the NCAA Division I Green Bay Phoenix of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday afternoon.
With just nine bodies available in the match-up, UMD never really could get its offense going for debuting head coach
Mandy Pearson. Junior forward
Kenzie Kane led the way with six points while sophomore forward
Ayo Porte added six in a start. First-year forward
Emma Boehm added five points off the bench. The Bulldogs lifted three three-pointers in the second half after an 0-for-4 opening frame beyond the arc.
Like UMD, Green Bay boats a young line-up but got double-digit scoring efforts from four players, led by Jessica Lindstrom who had 14 points on 6-of-11 off the bench and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, eight on the defensive end. Porte led the Bulldogs with nine rebounds on the night.
UP NEXTUMD will try to get healthy this week as the Bulldogs continue the exhibition season on Saturday afternoon, playing host to NCAA III Bethel University at Romano Gym. Opening tip is set for 4:00 p.m. in Duluth.
