The University of Minnesota Duluth went on a first half run to pull away from the University of Minnesota Crookston and held on the rest of the way to win its sixth straight game, 93-69 on the road in Crookston on Sunday afternoon.
The game opened a back-and-forth affair as Minnesota Crookston (3-11, 1-9 NSIC) seemed to have an answer each time UMD (13-3, 9-1 NSIC) made a big time play or hit a three, but late in the the first half, the Bulldogs made their move, scoring 12 straight points out of the final media timeout to turn a 31-28 lead to 43-28. They'd take a 14-point advantage to the locker room after senior guard
Taylor Lavery hit a pair of free throws to end the scoring at 48-34.

Pierre Newton scored the Bulldogs' first seven points of the second half before the team spread the scoring around, hitting a pair of big threes to extend that lead out to 29 at 78-49. From there, the team needed online to hang on the rest of the way with head coach
Matt Bowen using all of his reserves as 12 different players scored for UMD in the victory.
Lavery continued his offensive dominance, scoring 26 points in 27 minutes of action, hitting four three-pointers and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Newton had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while senior forward
Brendon Pineda added 11 points for the Bulldogs. Derrick Redd, Jr. had 15 points to lead the way for the Golden Eagles. UMD out-rebounded Minnesota Crookston 38-23 on the game and hit 18-of-24 free throws compared to just 4-of-10 for UMC.
The Bulldogs continue on the road next week, first making a stop at Wayne State (Neb.) College before taking on No. 2 Augustana (S.D.) University on Saturday. Opening tip in Wayne, Nebraska between the Bulldogs and Wildcats is set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday night, following the women's contest.
