Breanna Colbenson took top honors in the 5,000-meter run and freshman
Emilee Trost did likewise in the 3,000-meter event to lead the way for the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday afternoon at the Minnesota Open in Minneapolis.
Colbenson completed her nine-runner race in 17:01.19 while Trost's clocking was 9:46.81, which were both personal best times and currently the third and second best marks, respectively in the NCAA Division II ranks.
Other top four UMD finishes included senior
Hannah Olson in the 3,000-meter run (2nd place; 10:07.79), freshman
Elizabeth Brunner (2nd; 11.28 meters) and sophomore
Katherine Hawkinson (3rd; 10.91 meters) in the triple jump, senior
Chanel Miller (3rd; 8.94) and freshman
Danielle Kohlwey (4th; 8.97) in the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Erica Kesseh in the 60-meter dash (4th; 7.99) and freshman
Alyssa Nebo in the long jump (4th; 5.23 meters).
Most of the UMD squad will pay a visit to the MinnesotaState University Open next Saturday while the Bulldogs throwers are scheduled to take part in the Twin Ports Open at the University of Wisconsin-Superior that same day.
