BULLDOGS LOOK TO KEEP MOMENTUM ROLLING AGAINST HIGHWAY-2 RIVALS

The University of Minnesota Duluth will look to maintain the momentum of a four-game winning streak as the Bulldogs roll up Highway 2 to face Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division rivals Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Crookston this weekend.

UMD (11-3, 8-1 NSIC) seeks season sweeps of the Beavers and Golden Eagles this weekend after knocking off bridge rival the University of Wisconsin-Superior 89-63 on Wednesday afternoon. As successful as the Bulldogs have been at home (a perfect 7-0), they are just 3-3 away from Romano Gym; they'll look to jump-start their road record back above .500 in Bemidji and Crookston.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS | 6-6, 3-5 NSIC
10207Bemidji State stumbled out of the gates in the season's second half, falling against Minot State University and the University of Mary last weekend ... the Bulldogs defeated the Beavers 74-67 in Duluth on Dec. 5, 2015 earlier this season ... three players led BSU with 17 points each against UMD earlier this season: senior guard D.J. Anderson, junior forward Ben Best, and freshman guard Calvin Harrington ... Best leads the Beavers averaging 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He had 11 rebounds against the Bulldogs ... head coach Mike Boschee is in his fourth season leading the Beavers ... UMD is 91-40 all-time against Bemidji State after the victory earlier this season.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES | 3-9, 1-7 NSIC
10208Minnesota Crookston has lost four straight dating back to Dec. 12, falling 78-55 to Minot State last time out ... the Bulldogs knocked off the Golden Eagles 78-71 in Duluth on Dec. 4, 2015 earlier this season ... sophomore guard C.J. Polk netted a team-high 17 points against UMD, while senior guard Derrick Redd, Jr. had 14 as well ... Redd leads Minnesota Crookston averaging 11.8 points per game while Polk is not far behind at 11.3 ... head coach Dan Weisse is in his second season leading the Golden Eagles ... the Bulldogs are 27-4 all-time against UMC including the victory earlier this year.

UMD is off to its best start since the 1996-97 season, when the Bulldogs started 15-3 before suffering their fourth defeat of the season ... senior guard Taylor Lavery had averaged 22.3 points per game during the team's four-game winning streak, shooting 47.4 percent while hitting 16-of-33 three-pointers ... four Bulldogs have averaged double figures in that stretch, with senior swing guard Pierre Newton just behind Lavery with 20.0 points to go with 7.8 rebounds per outing on the year ... senior forward Brendon Pineda has averaged 14.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in four starts while senior guard Junior Coleman has averaged 13.0 points off the bench ... the Bulldogs have averaged 91.2 points per game as a team, shooting nearly 50 percent on the stretch (49.8) and hitting 11.3 three per game.
