A 9-0 defeat at the at hands of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire closed the books on the 2016 season for the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Rookie head coach
Jessica Worden and her young band of Bulldogs posted a final overall record of 3-14 to go with a 3-8 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference mark. UMD, which went winless in its last five matches, sported a roster that possessed not a single senior and just two juniors in team co-captains
Drew DeCorsey and
Kaitlin Wohnoutka. Wohnoutka won't return for her senior season, however, as the Luverne, Minn. product will graduate next month before entering the physical therapy program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., this fall.
Wohnoutka (No. 3) and sophomore Jillian Klassen (No. 4) share the team lead for singles victories with six (both were 6-11) while sophomores
Katie Baasch and
Karly Weber turned in the best doubles winning percentage, going 4-3 at No. 3 -- all against NSIC competition.
