Lara Stalder strengthened her grip on the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Offensive Player of the Week award Tuesday, picking up her league-leading fourth accolade of the 2016-17 season.
The senior forward led all WCHA players with a whopping six points -- four goals and two assists -- over the weekend against Bemidji State University. In fact, Stalder figured in six of UMD seven goals on the weekend, including a hat trick in the Bulldogs 5-1 victory on Friday. The Luzern, Switzerland native scored three-straight goals Friday, starting at 12:28 of the first period. Stalder then scored the eventual game-winner 6:13 into the second period before tacking on her third goal at 10:54. She added an assist late in the third period for her fourth point of the game and had 10 shots in the skate and went +4.Â
Saturday, Stalder set a program record for the fastest goal scored in a game just eight seconds into the contest. She then added her second assist of the weekend, second point of the game and sixth point of the series with a primary assist 11:43 into the second period. Stalder had six shots Saturday and was +2 for a weekend total of 16 shots and a +6 plus/minus rating. Currently, Stalder is tied for third for the most points in the NCAA with 39 (16g, 23a), eighth goals with a 0.67 average per game, sixth in assists with .96 and second in the country with five game-winning goals. Stalder is also in the midst of a blistering five-game scoring streak where she has produced eight goals and five assists for 13 points, for an average of 2.60 ppg over those last five outings.
Stalder and the Bulldogs will host Ohio State University this Friday at AMSOIL Arena. Â Game-time is set for 7:07 p.m.
