The University of Minnesota Duluth battled hard but came up short in its 2017 season opener with the College of St. Scholastica Friday night as the Bulldogs fell 6-3 to their intracity rival at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
Senior team co-captain
Drew DeCorsey won in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles and freshman
Megan Anderson was victorious (in straight sets) at No. 3 singles in her collegiate debut. Those two also teammed up to prevail at No. 2 doubles. Junior
Kelsey Zetah lost both of the matches she was involved in (No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles with junior co-captain
Shelby Benkofske) in tiebreakers.
The Bulldogs will pay a visit to the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis next Saturday (Feb. 4) for a pair of non-conference engagements with the University of Northwestern and St. Catherine University.
