In what may have been its most impressive victory of the season, the University of Minnesota Duluth took to the road to dominate the University of Minnesota Crookston on Friday night, winning by a season-high 24 points.
After falling behind 7-5 just five minutes into the matchup, UMD (4-10, 3-5 NSIC) would regain the lead on a three-pointer from junior guard
Kyle Schalow, who finished the game with 12 points, and never allow Minnesota Crookston (5-9, 1-7 NSIC) back on top. The Bulldogs held a 18-16 edge with under seven minutes to play before running off a 15-4 spurt over the next four minutes. UMD ultimately took a 40-24 advantage to the locker room at halftime.
The Bulldogs coasted through the second half, leading by double-digits throughout the 20 minutes. UMD's 24 point lead at the conclusion of the game was its largest of the night, capped off by the first career three-pointer by freshman guard
Max Bawden.
Five Bulldogs notched double-digit points, led by junior forward
Jake Wilson (14) and sophomore guard
Cody Tomlinson (13), who also added five of UMD's 19 assists -- a team season-best.Â
UMD collectively shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the floor and 52 percent (13-of-25) from long range. The Bulldogs held the Golden Eagles to a 40.4 (23-of-57) field goal percentage and a 30.8 (4-of-13) three-point percentage.
The Bulldogs will look for its third consecutive win tomorrow night as they take on Bemidji State University at 6 p.m.
