The University of Minnesota Duluth went 1-1 on Tuesday in its second day of competition in Orlando/Kissimmee, Fla., wrapping things up with a 9-0 victory over the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) after being ambushed 7-2 by Stonehill College that morning.
The Bulldogs, who are now 7-6 overall, got a pair of singles wins from junior
Katie Baasch at No. 2 and two doubles victories from the No. 1 pair of juniors
Shelby Benkofske and
Kelsey Zetah. Freshman
Megan Anderson lost in a tie breaker in her No. 2 singles bout with Stonehill's Victoria Barbetta, but rebounded to defeat Ellen Stensrud of St. Benedict in straight sets. The Forest Lake, Minn., product hiked her 2017 singles record to 9-4 while another first year Bulldog,
Elsa Erickson, was victorious against St. Benedict at the No. 5 singles spot to go to 8-6 on the year.
Stonehill (13-3 overall) was rated No. 5 in the the latest Oracle/ITA Division II East Regional Rankings. St. Benedict fell to to 7-5.
UMD will have tomorrow off before resuming play on Thursday with matches against Wayne State University and Lee University.
