The University of Minnesota Duluth returned from a 15-day layoff to upend Southwest Minnesota State University 9-0 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn., before succumbing 7-2 to another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference adversary, Minnesota State University-Mankato Sunday morning.
The Bulldogs are now 8-10 overall -- their most wins since the 2009 season -- and 5-4 in the NSIC with just one weekend to go in the conference season.

Katie Baasch (No. 6) all won in straight sets against Southwest Minnesota State as the Bulldogs dropped just eight games combined in the six singles matches. In addition, Benkofske and Zetah (No. 1), DeCorsey and Erickson (No. 2), and Erickson and Baasch (No. 3) all prevailed in doubles.
Erickson went on to take down Minnesota State-Mankato's Abby Schmidt at No. 5 singles the following day at the Swanson Tennis Center and Zetah defeated Monika Ryan in a tiebreaker for UMD's lone two victories against the Mavericks (7-10 overall, 5-4 NSIC).
Erickson, who owns a three-match winning streak, tops currently tops the 2017 Bulldogs in singles wins with an 11-6 mark while Anderson is right behind at 10-8. Anderson and DeCorsey have gone 7-6 in doubles while Benkofske and Zetah are 7-8. The Bulldogs as a team have posted identical 8-10 records at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles this season.
The Bulldogs will be in Sioux Falls, S.D., next weekend for matches with NSIC-leading Augustana University (Saturday) and the University of Sioux Falls (Sunday)
