The University of Minnesota Duluth wrapped up the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season over the weekend by splitting a pair of matches in Sioux Falls, S.D.The Bulldogs were upended 7-2 by NSIC regular season champion Augustana University on Saturday night, but rebounded with a 6-3 triumph over the University of Sioux Falls the following morning.
Rookie 
Megan Anderson (No. 3 singles) and junior 
Katie Baasch (No. 6) and freshman 
Elsa Erickson (No. 3 doubles) provided UMD with the lone two wins against Augustana.Baasch and Erickson came out ahead again in doubles as well as singles (No. 6 and No. 5, respectively) in the Sioux Falls match and were joined in the victory department by juniors 
Shelby Benkofske (No. 1 singles) and Kelsey  Zetah (No. 4 singles). 
Erickson (12-7) and Anderson (11-9) have combined to go 23-16 in their debut collegiate seasons. Erickson and Baasch sport UMD's best doubles record to date at 6-2.
UMD will close out the 2017 regular season this Friday (April 14) with a non-conference engagement at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The Bulldogs are 9-11 overall and finished in a tie for sixth place in the NSIC with a 6-5 record. They have qualified for the NSIC Tournament for the first time since 2010 and will be seeded eighth in that two-day event, which kicks off on April 22 at Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka, Minn. The Bulldogs' first-round opponent is No. 1 seed Augustana.
