Some nights just don't go the way it's planned. Friday night was one of those nights.
The University of Minnesota Duluth fell 71-52 to Winona State University at McGown Gymnasium in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Bulldogs (6-9, 3-7 NSIC) shot 32.7 percent from the floor and hit a season-low 17 field goals. The Warriors (11-6, 6-5 NSIC) led wire-to-wire as they clinched their 37th win in the 100th meeting between the two clubs. Winona State has won the last three battles and haven't lost to the maroon-and-gold since the NSIC tournament on Feb. 25, 2015.
It was an extremely rough outing on the offensive end. UMD went 0-for-12 at the start and had its first points scored 8:11 into the game on sophomore
Trevor Entwisle's two free throws. Senior forward
Jake Wilson netted the first field goal on a three-point attempt. The Bulldogs dug themselves a big hole in the first half that it never recovered. They had the game within five at 27-22 but the Warriors continued to stymie the offense.
Sophomore
Logan Rohrscheib scored a team-high 15 points and had 12 of his 15 points in the second half. The Eau Claire, Wis., native extended his streak at the charity stripe to 48-straight after going a perfect 5-for-5 at the line. Wilson was the only other UMD player to hit double figures as he added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
A pair of streaks were snapped tonight as well. Sophomore forward
Brandon Myer was held in check and had his lowest scoring total of the season. Myer, the reigning NSIC North Player of the Week, tallied four points which ended his seven-game streak of 20-plus points, the longest streak by any Bulldog since the turn of the century. Entwisle had his streak of five assists or more in four games come to an abrupt ending after only dishing out three assists in 32 minutes .

The Warriors were led by Devin Whitelow, who scored 16 points off the bench. Winona State shot 48 percent from the field as it scored 12 points off 11 UMD turnovers and had 34 points in the paint.
UMD, which has won four of its last six, will attempt to rebound and take a split of the weekend road swing with a showdown against Upper Iowa University tomorrow. That tip off will commence at 6:00 p.m. at Dorman Gymnasium in Fayette, Iowa.Â
