After defeating Sweden 2-1 at the Kwandong Hockey Center Wednesday, former Bulldog All-American Lara Stalder and Switzerland will await Thursday's contests to see who they will face in the Quarterfinal round. Switzerland won Group B and own a record of 3-0, but both Switzerland and Sweden will skate Saturday in the Quarterfinals against either Finland or the Olympic Athletes of Russia.
Stalder, who currently ranks fourth among all Olympic skaters with five points on two goals and three assists in three games, dished an assist on Switzerland's first goal at the 13:51 mark Wednesday. Stalder had a game-high 10 shots in the game, and posted the second most on ice minutes for Switzerland, having taken 25 shifts for 24:59 of ice time. Stalder's shifts were an average of 59 seconds each.
Former Bulldog forward Pernilla Winberg of Sweden -- who ranks 11th among all skaters with two goals and an assist in three skates -- had three shots on 23 total shifts and played a total of 19:48. Forward Maria Lindh took eight shifts for Sweden, averaging 34 seconds on the ice each time.
It was an Olympic rematch of sorts for the two squads -- Stalder and Switzerland defeated Sweden in the bronze medal game in Sochi in 2014.
