The No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth took on the Bemidji State Beavers on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs would sweep the Beavers 25-17, 26-24, 26-24 and improve to 15-2 on the year (8-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference).
 
UMD would swing at a .181 clip for the day, while the Beavers would clip at a .095 percent. The Bulldogs would finish the match with 5.0 blocks and 40 kills, Bemidji finished with 15.0 blocks and 28 kills.
 
The first set started with the Beavers serve. The teams went back and forth on points, bringing the score to six a side before the Bulldogs were able to rattle off four straight to take a 10-6 lead. UMD would not think about letting Bemidji State back into the set, going on a six point run and brining the score to 17-9 before the Beavers were able to score again. The Bulldogs put another point on the board before Bemidji would call a timeout. UMD would put its foot on the gas and finish out the set 25-17.
 
The second set saw a different start, as the Beavers hopped out to an 8-1 lead, a six point run before the Bulldogs would score a second point in the set. UMD would rattle six straight, forcing Bemidji to take a timeout. The two teams would trade points before the Beavers would hop to a 21-16 lead. The Bulldogs battled back, forced extra points and would take the set 26-24.
 
In the third set, the Beavers again would hop out to an early lead, going up 5-1 to start. UMD would battle and bring it to six a side before the teams would trade points. The teams went blow for blow and kept it tied until nine points a side. Bemidji would strike three points down and stay ahead for a majority of the rest of the set. The Beavers went up 23-18 when the Bulldogs called their second timeout. With their backs against the wall, the Bulldogs fought their way back and went on an 8-1 run to finish the final set 26-24.
 
Redshirt freshman setter 
Madison Gordon would finish the match with one ace and three digs. Sophomore defensive specialist 
Sydney Lanoue would finish with eight digs and a kill. Sophomore middle blocker 
Summer Ballard floored nine kills, swinging at a .278 clip and had a block. Junior outside hitter 
Kate Berg had 10 kills on the day, adding seven digs in the process and three assists. Senior defensive specialist 
Keena Seiffert would dig 17 on the evening, adding one assist and two aces. Senior setter 
Emily Balts would dish 33 assists, adding three kills and an ace. Senior right side hitter 
Hanna Meyer would strike five down, blocking three in the process. Senior middle blocker 
Abby Thor would floor nine, swinging at a .571clip and blocking four.
 
The Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend, heading to Wayne State on Friday, October 18
th to take on the Widcats.
