The No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth took on Augustana on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls, SD. The Bulldogs, who swept the Vikings 25-22, 25-20, 25-14, improve to 17-2 (10-1 in the NSIC) on the year, while Augustana drops to 12-8 (5-6 in the NSIC).

UMD out swung the Vikings at a clip of .276 to Augustana's .145. The Bulldogs finished with 48 kills and two blocks, while the Vikings finish with 32 kills and four blocks.

The first set saw Augustana jump out to a 5-1 lead. UMD would be able to battle its way back into the match, rattling a 6-2 rally and tie things up at eight a side. The teams would keep thing close until the Vikings would grab a 17-12 lead on the Bulldogs. UMD would rattle five points straight, tying things up at 17. The teams would battle back and forth, with the Bulldogs taking the upper hand and winning out 25-22.

In the second, UMD would hop out to an early 7-3 lead before Augustana would take a timeout in attempt to slow the Bulldogs momentum. The Vikings would tie things up at eight a side before UMD would find their footing again and hop out to a 19-13 lead. The teams would trade points the rest of the way with the Bulldogs taking the set 25-20.

The third and final set saw UMD find their footing early and start hot, taking a 7-1 lead before the Vikings would take their first timeout of the set. The Bulldogs kept things going out of the timeout, scoring two right away before Augustana would score another point, bringing things to 9-2. UMD didn't look back, keeping the gas on the pedal and never letting the Vikings close the gap tighter than 9 the rest of the way. UMD would complete the sweep, finishing out the set 25-14.

Madison Gordon would finish with three aces, one assist and eight digs on the afternoon. Sophomore defensive specialist
Sydney Lanoue would finish with seven kills on the day, serving one ace and digging 10. Sophomore outside hitter
Meredith Sutton floored seven and swung at a .333 rate for the day. Junior outside hitter
Kate Berg finished with with 11 kills and 15 digs on the afternoon. Junior middle blocker
Lexy Langenfeld went six for six on attacks and kills, swinging at 1.000 for the day and getting one block. Senior defensive specialist
Keena Seiffert would dig 17 and assist on three. Senior setter
Emily Balts dished 39 assists on the day, earning one kill and three digs along the way. Senior right side hitter
Hanna Meyer would floor seven on the day. Senior middle blocker
Abby Thor had eight kills, swung at a .350 clip for the day and had one solo block.

The Bulldogs come home and will play host to (RV) Sioux Falls (Oct. 25) and No. 12 Southwest Minnesota State (Oct. 26) at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, Minn.
