THE OPENING KICK: The University of Minnesota Duluth will hit the road for Friday's (Nov. 1) match up against UMary, then come home to play host to Minot State on Sunday (Nov. 3)
SCOUTING REPORT ON UMARY: UMary comes off a weekend where it went 1-1-0. The Marauders started the weekend by dropping a match against Winona State, 1-2, despite outshooting the Warriors 16-14 and putting eight on net to Winona States five. They then went to Upper Iowa and beat them 2-1. The Marauders now carry a 8-3-2 overall (6-3-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, tied for fifth place) record on the year. Sarah Cook is in her eighth season as a head coach, all being with UMary. She carries an all time record of 55-64 (.468), going 8-8-3 last season.
UMary has had scoring spread out this season, coming from eight different players. Hannah Richter has been the lead of the offense, scoring six on the season and adding three assists, good for 15 points. She also has three game winners on the year, third in the NSIC. Three different players have three goals and the Marauders have thirteen point getters on the year. Goalkeeper Madisyn Waltman has played every minute on the year, recording 60 saves and carrying a .909 save percentage with a .44 goals against average (second in the NSIC). She also has seven shutouts on the year, first in the NSIC and seventh in DII.
SCOUTING REPORT ON MINOT STATE: The Beavers come into the weekend after dropping two games last weekend. The first came from Upper Iowa, where the Beavers lost 0-2, then playing Winona State in the ensuing match, dropping the match 0-3. After the weekend, Minot State now carries a 3-11-0 overall (3-8-0 in the NSIC, 13th in the division). Chris Clements is at the helm of the Beavers squad this season, taking over after Jason Spain, becoming the second head coach in MInot State soccer programs history.
Despite the down year for the Beavers, Sofia Lewis has had a solid year on the offensive side of the ball scoring five goals on the year. She's added one assist to her stat line, good for 11 points on the season. Minot State has five different point getters on the year, all of them scoring at least one goal and having at least four points. The Beavers have had three different goalkeepers in net this season, with Erin Rafferty seeing the most time, playing in a total of 12 games on the year. She carries a 2.17 goals against average and a .735 save percentage on the year. Â
THE SERIES: The University of Minnesota Duluth has been fairly even with UMary all time, with the teams playing a total of 16 games, the Bulldogs carrying the upper hand with a 8-5-3 record. The Marauders took last years match up in a tight game, beating the Bulldogs 0-1. Minot State has had better fortune against UMD, handing them six losses in seven meetings all time against the Bulldogs. The Beavers took last year's meeting in another tight battle, out lasting UMD in a 0-1 battle.

AHEAD OF THE CURVE: Senior midfielder
Emily Hinz scored two goals against Michigan Tech on Sept. 8, the second game of the season. The two goals sets a career high for goals in a game for Hinz. She also has broke her personal career high in goals in a season. Her old record was two in her sophomore season, she currently has eight on the year, most recently scoring on a penalty kick against MSU Moorhead on Oct. 13 in a 1-1 tie. Hinz also has 17 points on the season, setting a career high for points on in a year. Her old record was five, also in her sophomore season. Â
AHEAD OF THE CURVE: Junior forward
Holly Kaboord scored her first game winning goal of her collegiate career against the defending national champions Bridgeport Purple Knights on Sept. 12 in a 3-2 win. The goal was also the first of her career. Kaboord has one goal and assist each, giving her a career high in points in a season with three.
TOP OF THE BOARD: Hinz has eight goals on the year, averaging .53 goals per game. She is ranked third in the NSIC for goals and fourth for goals per game. She has 17 points (1.13 per game), ranking seventh in the NSIC and eighth for points per game.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: The Bulldogs have 11 different goal scorers through 15 games, with four of those goal scores scoring their first of their career. UMD also has 15 players with points this season, with 13 of them having at least two or more points.
