The University of Minnesota Duluth won its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-leading fourth consecutive game this afternoon as the Bulldogs came away with a 68-53 victory over Upper Iowa University at Romano Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs have dominated the series against the Peacocks and today was no different as Upper Iowa dropped their 17th straight contest of the season and their 40th consecutive NSIC contest dating all the way back to Feb. 11, 2017.
UMD has not loss as it is 16-0 all-time against the Peacocks going back to when the clubs first met in 2008.
Senior guard
Sammy Kozlowski and sophomore forward
Sarah Grow combined for 31 points for the Bulldogs, who are 14-5 overall and 13-3 in the NSIC.
Kozlowski gathered a game-high 17 points to go with five assists and four steals. The native of New Berlin, Wis., moved into a tie for fifth all-time in career steals with Kristi Duncan (229). Grow notched her third double-double of the season. She tallied 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, which tied her season high. Grow also rejected three blocks and racked up two steals.
UMD shot 41 percent while Upper Iowa shot 35 percent. The Bulldogs nearly led wire-to-wire and had a 23-point cushion in the third quarter. The Peacocks trailed 20 seconds in and scored just six points in the opening 10 minutes. UMD outscored Upper Iowa 42-26 in the paint.
The Bulldogs, who are a perfect 9-0 at home against NSIC competition, are on the road for the next four games. They will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for a NSIC battle against Augustana University on Friday, Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
