BULLDOGS PICK UP WIN OVER BEAVERS ON SENIOR DAY

The University of Minnesota Duluth ended the regular season with a 68-47 victory over Bemidji State University on Senior Day. The Bulldogs captured their 19th win of the season with Saturday's 21-point Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win at Romano Gymnasium as they paid tribute to their three seniors, Emma Boehm, Josie Buckley and Sammy Kozlowski.

UMD, who is 19-6 overall and 18-4 in league action, is the second seed in the north division for the 2019 NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament and will host Southwest Minnesota State University, the seventh seed in the south division, on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m.

The top four seeds in each division host the first round, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship games taking place on March 2, 4-5 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The three seniors combined for 17 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, six steals and a block versus the Beavers. Boehm recorded her eighth game this season with at least 10 points and still leads the NSIC in three-point shooting percentage (49.1). Buckley received her first start of the season and second overall of her collegiate career. The native of Rice Lake, Minn., responded with three rebounds, a steal and four assists, a career high, in a season-high 21 minutes. Kozlowski notched seven points and three steals. She moved ahead of Kristi Duncan for possession of fourth in career steals as a Bulldog with 240. The three seniors have a 35-17 record the last two years and can post UMD's first 20-win season in nine seasons with one more in the win column.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the second quarter as they out scored Bemidji State (5-21; 3-19 NSIC) 23-7. UMD shot a blistering 77 percent in the quarter while the Beavers hit only one bucket and shot 10 percent. Bemidji State allowed 45 points first-half points and trailed by 22 at the half. UMD would lead by as many as 26 in the third before calling off the dogs. The Beavers led for four minutes in the first quarter before the Bulldogs turned on the jets and Bemidji State never closed the gap under 20 until the 4-minute mark in the fourth.

Sophomore forward Sarah Grow led the Bulldogs in scoring for the seventh time this season. She dropped a game-high 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Freshman forward Brooke Olson added 12 points while junior forward Katie Stark compiled eight points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in her rare occasion as a role player off the bench to give way for Buckley's start.

UMD shot 53 percent from the field as it finished above 50 percent for the fifth time this season.
