Box Score 2 The University of Minnesota Duluth's season-opening road show continued Thursday as the Bulldogs paid a visit to Sioux Falls, S.D., where they were ambushed twice (9-3 and 6-1) by the reigning NCAA Division II champion Augustana University in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader.
In the opener, the Bulldogs trailed 3-0 before Augustana erupted for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. UMD generated five hits and scored all three of their runs in the top of the seventh inning on rookie shortstop
McCale Peterson's three-run home run. He drove in junior right fielder

Nick Dorfman, in his first start of 2019, furnished the Bulldogs with four innings of of solid work, giving up six hits and three runs while senior
Evan Vick worked the final two innings and allowed six runs on five hits.
In Game 2, UMD (4-9 overall; 2-3 NSIC) tied Augustana (12-5; 5-0 NSIC) at 1-1 in the second inning on senior third baseman
Eric Yachinich's double to right center that plated
McCale Peterson. Yachinich accounted for two of UMD's six hits. The Vikings answered with two runs in the third to push the lead to 3-1 before scoring once each in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.. Third baseman Eric of UMD's Rookie starting pitcher
Aaron Wukmir (0-2) yielded four runs on five hits in 3.1 innings before being relieved by rookie
Zach Matthews (no runs and non hits in 1.2 innings) and then sophomore
Wyatt O'Bey (two earned run and two hits in 2.0 innings).
Next up for UMD is a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at NSIC rival Wayne State College.
