Box Score 2 After a 27-day break, the University of Minnesota Duluth returned to the courts Saturday and followed up a 4-0 loss to Minnesota State University-Moorhead by defeating the University 4-3 in two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference confrontations in Sartell, Minn.
UMD, now 9-3 overall and 6-3 in the NSIC, lost the doubles point against MSU-Moorhead, but did pick up a victory at No. 2 with sophomore
Natalie Cahill and rookie
Sophie Lynch prevailing, 6-2. The Dragons were then able to reel off three singles victories before three others were completed to clinch the win.
Cahill and Lynch won again at doubles (6-2) in the Mary match as did the No. 1 tandem of juniors
Megan Anderson and
Elsa Erickson (also 6-2). Cahill secured a straight-set triumph at No. 3 singles to improve to 10-1 on the year. She has also won 14 of her last 15 matches going back to last year. Freshman
Ally Tiedemann (No. 5)Â and sophomore
Isabel Thiner (No. 6) also delivered singles triumph for the Bulldogs. Thiner sports an 9-1 singles mark this season while Tiedemann is 8-2.Â
UMD will pay a visit to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this Friday (April 5) before returning to the Duluth Indoor Sports Center the following day to take on NSIC rival St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State University-Mankato.
