The University of Minnesota Duluth finished a weekend sweep, beating the Winona State Warriors 25-22, 25-16, 25-19 and improve to 9-1 on the year.

The Bulldogs finish with 46 kills on the afternoon, outpacing WSU by 16. UMD would finish with a hitting clip of .327, while the Warriors would clip at .184.

In the first set, WSU got off to a hot start, going up early 6-2. The Bulldogs would battle their way back, bringing the score to a tie and taking the lead on a 5-0 rally. UMD would eventually go up 14-9, forcing the Warriors to take a timeout. That wouldn't stop the Bulldogs, continuing to hammer the ball and going on a 4-1 rally to force another WSU timeout. The two teams would trade points until UMD would finish out the set 25-22.

The second set saw a hot start for the Bulldogs, as they came out of the break and started the set 5-1. The Warriors would battle their way back into things and pull to within one point, but were never able to tie things up. They came close, eventually pulling within two points and getting the score to 16-14. Head Coach Jim Boos took a timeout, and UMD didn't look back after that, stringing together a 9-2 run and finishing the set 25-16.

In the closing set, the Bulldogs came out of the gate hard, taking a commanding 9-3 lead. WSU would rattle off a 4-2 rally, pulling within four and bringing the score to 11-7. UMD would keep the pressure on and stayed ahead the rest of the way, finishing the sweep in the final set 25-19.

Senior middle blocker Abby Thor would end the game with 11 kills, clipping at .625 and added a block in the process. Senior right side hitter Hanna Meyer would finish the day with a match high 15 kills, adding a block as well. Senior setter Emily Balts would dish 39 assists in the win. Junior outside hitter Kate Berg would snag nine kills in the contest, clipping at a .273 along the way.
