The No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth was ready to take on No. 7 Concordia St. Paul in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival match. The Bulldogs improve to 10-1 on the year (3-0 in the NSIC), taking the top 10 matchup and sweeping Concordia-St. Paul in straight sets 25-22, 25-21, 28-26.

UMD would out hit the Golden Bears and finish the contest swinging at a .278 clip while CSP would hit at a .252 clip.

The first set saw the Golden Bears go up early 3-1. The Bulldogs were able to find their footing and rattle off four straight to take the lead 4-0. The two teams would trade points back and forth. The Bulldogs would score three straight and take an 11-7 lead. CSP would come back to take the lead at 13-12 before head coach
Jim Boos took a timeout. The teams would continue to trade points, with a lead never going above three points. The Golden Bears would even it up at 22-22. UMD would take the final three points and finish out the set 25-22.

The second started with the Bulldogs going up 3-1. CSP would rally back and take the lead at 5-3. UMD battled back and would tie things up at 6-6. The two teams would go back and forth on points, with neither team being able to rattle off more than two points in a row. The Bulldogs were finally able to score four in a row before the Golden Bears would take a timeout with UMD up 19-15. CSP would go on a 5-1 run forcing UMD to take a timeout. The Bulldogs found their composure and finished out the set 25-21.

In the final set, there would be three ties before the score would hit 4-4. The Golden Bears would rally three straight points before UMD would take a timeout at 7-4. The teams would trade points coming out of the timeout before the Bulldogs would tie it 11 a piece. The score would tie twice before UMD went up 14-13 for their first lead since the beginning of the set. CSP would take the first two points out of the timeout before the Bulldogs score one, bringing it to 20-17. UMD would battle back to bring it within one at 22-21. It would be back and forth until UMD would tie it at 24 a side, and the Golden Bears would take their first timeout. The teams would continue to trade points until CSP would take its second timeout at 26-26. The Bulldogs would come out of the timeout and take the net two points to finish the match and the sweep.

Sophomore middle blocker
Summer Ballard would finish the match with four kills, swung at a .375 clip and had one block. Senior defensive specialist Kenna Seiffert would finish with nine digs in the contest, adding two assists and two aces on the evening. Junior outside hitter
Kate Berg would dig nine as well, also hammering 12 kills along the way. Senior middle blocker
Abby Thor would finish with a team high 14 kills, swinging at a .600 clip for the evening. Sophomore outside hitter
Meredith Sutton was able to accumulate 12 kills over the match, swinging at a .476 clip and digging seven. Senior right side hitter
Hanna Meyer had two blocks in the contest, getting five kills and one dig along the way. Senior setter
Emily Balts had 44 assists in the match, digging eight attacks and serving up two aces. Junior middle blocker
Lexy Langenfeld had two kills, swung at a .333 clip and added a block.

The Bulldogs continue their road trip tomorrow in Mankato, Minn. to take on the Mavericks at 4:00 PM.
