The University of Minnesota Duluth continued its road trip on Sunday, traveling to St. Paul to take on Concordia-St. Paul. UMD would put up a good battle, but would fall to CSP 1-0, bringing their record to 3-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The Bulldogs would come out hot, taking the matches first two shots in the first two minutes, coming from senior forward
Nan Glinsek and senior forward
Logan Nash. The two teams would play a fairly even first half, with the Golden Bears taking their first shot in the 31
st minute. UMD would take six shots (two on goal) and CSP took five shots (one on net) in the first half.
The second half saw the shots pick up, with CSP taking a shot right in the first minute. The Golden bears took another shot just minutes later that was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper
Sophia Grenz. The Bulldogs were put to the test on defense, with CSP keeping the pressure on. The Golden Bears would eventually break the tie at the 77
th minute with a shot that would sneak by Grenz coming from Jackie Ehlert who received a pass from Hannah Pedersen. UMD was unable to find their footing from that point on as CSP would keep the Bulldogs in their end for a majority of the time remaining, with Pedersen ripping a shot of the crossbar in the closing minutes.
The Bulldogs would finish with a total of 11 shots, four of them being on goal. The Golden Bears would finish with 16 shots, putting five on net. Grenz would finish the game with four saves. Senior midfielder
Emily Hinz, junior forward
Kara Pascarella, freshman forward
Tiana DeGrande and junior forward
Holly Kaboord would all finish with a shot on goal. Nash would finish with a team high two shots.
UMD continues conference play at home next week, taking on Augustana on Oct. 4 in Duluth, Minn. at 6 PM.
