For the second time in as many days, the University of Minnesota Duluth squared off with a Twin Ports opponent and for the second time in as many days, the end result was a Bulldog victory.
After defeating the College of St. Scholastica in their 2020 season opener the previous night, the Bulldogs rolled to a 8-1 road triumph over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday afternoon.Â
The Bulldogs came out on top in all three doubles matches and five of six singles events to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Sophomore
Natalie Cahill and sophomore
Sophie Lynch joined forces to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles before going on to take their singles matches (Cahill at No. 3 and Lynch at No. 4) in straight sets. UMD also got straight set singles victories from senior team co-captain
Megan Anderson (No. 1), junior
Isabel Thiner (No. 5) and sophomore
Sarah Will No. 6) while Anderson and Thiner (No. 2) and freshmen
Mallory Lithun and
Emily Rahrik (No. 3) both posted 8-2 wins in doubles.
The Bulldogs will make their 2020 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference debut next Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 8-9) with matches against Winona State University and Upper Iowa University in Winona, Minn.
