The University of Minnesota Duluth made its 2020 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference home opener a successful one by taking down Minnesota State University-Mankato 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Duluth Indoor Tennis Center.

After taking two of the three doubles matches to pick up one point, UMD went 5-1 in singles, getting straight set victories from sophomore Natalie Cahill (No. 2), sophomore Sophie Lynch (No. 3), freshmen Emily Rahrik (No. 4) and Mallory Lithun (No. 5) and junior Isabel Thiner (No. 6).

Senior Megan Anderson, who lost a tough No. 1 singles match  in a tiebreaker, and Thiner (No. 2) and senior Elsa Erickson and sophomore Sarah Will (No. 3), prevailed in doubles.

The Bulldogs will host NSIC rival Southwest Minnesota State University on Sunday at 1 p.m. in their last home appearance until April 3.
