One day after disposing of Minnesota State University-Mankato 6-1, the University of Minnesota Duluth prevailed over another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foe, Southwest Minnesota State University, by that same score Sunday afternoon at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
The Bulldogs, who hiked their overall record to 5-1 and improved to 3-1 in NSIC play, took both doubles matches (the Mustangs forfeited the No. 3 event) with junior
Natalie Cahill and
Sophie Lynch winning at No. 1 and senior team captain
Megan Anderson and junior
Isabel Thiner doing so at No. 2 (both by 6-1 scores).
In singles, freshmen
Emily Rahrik (No. 2) and
Mallory Lithun (No. 3), senior team captain
Elsa Erickson (No. 4) and junior
Sarah Will (No. 5) all posted straight-set victories. Southwest State University forfeited at No. 6 singles.Â
The Bulldogs, who won't play again at home until April 3, will hit the road this Saturday (Feb. 22) for NSIC bouts with both the University of Sioux Falls and Augustana University in Sartell, Minn.
