The University of Minnesota Duluth Women's Cross Country team took the No. 18 spot in this week's USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll. This is the program's highest ranking since 2017, when the squad finished the season ranked No. 15.
The team moved up three spots to No. 18 after finishing in third at the NSIC Conference Championships last Saturday behind Augustana and UMary.
The top five teams in the National Coaches' Poll remained the same this week, with Adams State claiming the top spot once again. Rounding out the top spots were Grand Valley State, NSIC rival Augustana, Colorado School of Mines, and Lee (Tenn), respectively.
The Bulldogs were the third-highest NSIC school ranked, sitting behind Augustana in the third spot and UMary, who sits just above UMD at No. 17. The Marauders dropped six spots in this week's poll. The final NSIC program ranked wasMinnesota State at No. 26--dropping four spots from last week. Winona State dropped out of this week's poll after holding down the final spot last week. UMD was the only NSIC school to move up in the rankings this week; every other program either held steady or dropped spots in the poll.
In the final regional rankings of the year, the Bulldogs remain ranked No. 3 in the Central Region, holding down bronze for the sixth week in a row. The poll mirrors the finish order at the NSIC Conference Tournament: Augustana in first, UMary in second, and UMD in third. Minnesota State dropped one spot, to No. 5, while Winona State dropped two spots to No. 8.
After being ranked No. 7 in the preseason regional poll, the Bulldogs have held steady in the third spot all year. This is the highest ranking since the Week 1 poll in 2017, when the Bulldogs were ranked No. 2.
The No. 18 Bulldogs will head to Joplin, Missouri, on November 6 for the NCAA Central Region Championships.
