Marquette, Mich. – The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. The Bulldogs used a big second half, led by
Joshua Brown to propel the Bulldogs to a 76-63 win and an 7-0 start to the season.
The Bulldogs found themselves in a battle in the first half of the game. After jumping out to an early 6-1 lead, the Wildcats came back to tie it up at 8-8 with 13:36 left in the half. From there, teams battled and traded points as neither team could take control of the half and gain an advantage. Teams traded points as there were four lead changes throughout the half. The Bulldogs did struggle from the field as they shot 11-30 (36.67%) from the field and 2-8 (25%) from three-point range. They also shot 7-12 (58.33%) from the free throw line. The Wildcats shot 10-33 (30.3%) from the field and 1-9 (11.1%) from three-point range. They also shot 10-14 (71.43%) from the free throw line. Teams went into half with the score tied at 31-31.
In the second half, the Bulldogs offense came alive. After just 3 points in the first half,
Joshua Brown came out firing as he scored 18 points in the second half. Brown, along with the rest of the Bulldogs shot much better in the second half as they were able to build up to a 10-point lead thanks to a
Joshua Brown three-pointer with 10:41 left in the half. From there, the Bulldogs remained in control the remainder of the half as the Wildcats could not get over the deficit as the Bulldogs maintained their lead. In the second half, the Bulldogs came alive as they shot 15-28 (53.57%) from the field and 7-12 (58.33%) from three-point range. The Bulldogs also shot 8-14 from the foul line (57.14%). The Wildcats offense continued to struggle in the second half as they shot 11-31 (35.48%) from the field and 3-12 (25%) from three point range. They also shot 7-8 (87.5%) from the foul line.
The Bulldogs were led by a trio with over 20 points.
Joshua Brown and
Drew Blair led the Bulldogs with 21 points each as
Austin Andrews also added 20 points on the night. Andrews led the team with 14 rebounds on the night and also led the Bulldogs with 4 assists and 2 blocks. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 46-58 (44.8%) from the field and 9-20 (45%) from three-point range. They also shot 15-26 (57.7%) from the foul line.
The Wildcats were led by Max Bjorklund who had 23 points on the night. Sam Schultz led the team with 6 rebounds while Justin Kuehl and Brian Parzych led the team with 2 assists. Overall, the Wildcats shot 21-64 (32.8%) from the field and 4-21 (19%) from three-point range. They also shot 17-22 (77.3%) from the foul line.

The Bulldogs will resume NSIC play as they travel to face Bemidji State on Thursday December 2
nd at 5:30 PM. They will then be home as they host Minnesota Crookston on December 4
th at 2:00 PM.
