KOEPKE SIGNS TWO-YEAR ENTRY-LEVEL DEAL WITH LIGHTNING

A third University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey forward has signed a two-year entry-level contract. Cole Koepke has inked with the Tampa Bay Lightning and thus will forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility.

Koepke has been shooting past defensemen for the past three years for the Bulldogs, and has been a high point producer in the process. Over his three year span, he has scored 38 goals and dished 37 assists for a 75 point total in 104 games, scoring eight game winners, six power play goals and was a +31 in his career. This season for UMD, Koepke netted 15 goals to lead the team with three coming on the man advantage. He was one of three UMD players to score a hat trick this season and had two game winners, was named as a National Collegiate Hockey Conference honorable mention and won NCHC Bauer Forward of the Week on Feb. 8, 2021. He also served as an assistant captain.

Koepke was apart of a Bulldogs team that won the NCHC Frozen Faceoff and the NCAA Championship (2019) and was able to make back to back NCAA Frozen Four's (2019 & 2021).

Koepke was drafted by the Lightning in the sixth round (183rd overall selection) of the 2018 NHL Draft.
