Today the University of Minnesota Duluth Baseball team again battled with the University of Mary, this time in the decisive game three of their weekend series. Scoring was again on display as the Bulldogs and Marauders combined for twenty runs in the game, but it was the Marauders who came out on top 12-8 in the game. The loss moves UMD to 10-20 (7-17) in the NSIC.
 
Following a scoreless first inning for both teams, UMD and UMary found the scoresheet. The Bulldogs would get on the board on the board first scoring a run in the second and following that up with two runs in the top of the third. However, UMary would put up three runs in the bottom of the second and six runs in the bottom of the third to chase Bulldog starting pitcher Russ Tanner from the game. After three complete innings, the Marauders carried a 9-3 lead. Both teams would go scoreless in the fourth inning before the Marauders added one insurance run in the fifth and two insurance runs in the sixth inning. Trailing 12-3 UMD would try to mount a comeback in the top of the eighth inning as they manufactured five runs. Tim Pokornowski scored on a wild pitch to start off the inning, McCale Peterson would drive in a run on a RBI single, Tosten Mann chipped in with an RBI single, and Henry George contributed with a two RBI single. Following the big eighth inning UMD would fail to score again bringing us to our final score of 12-8. Russ Tanner would be charged with the loss for the Bulldogs bringing his record to (1-2) on the season. Eric Hinnenkamp, Mitchell Waletzki and Hayden Brown all worked in relief over the course of this afternoon's game.

On deck for the Bulldogs is a mid-week double dip against Southwest Minnesota State from Duluth. This series could mark the return of baseball to the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth for the first time in well over a year. The Bulldogs and Mustangs are set to do battle starting at 1:30 PM April 28.
