BELL NAMED TO CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM FOR 2021 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey senior defenseman Ashton Bell has been selected as one of 25 players to represent Canada at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary August 20-31.

The roster was selected from the 29 players chosen to centralize with Canada's National Women's Team for the 2021-22 season, leading up to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

Bell, who is coming off an All-American season at UMD, was one of just three current NCAA players selected, and is one of seven blueliners named to the team.  She joins former Bulldog All-American defenseman Jocelyne Larocque, who will attempt to make her third Olympic team in 2022.

The product of Deloraine, Manitoba and team captain was named both a 2020-21 USCHO First Team All-American and a 2020-21 CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American. Bell finished the season as the seventh-highest scoring defenseman in the nation and second highest in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with 14 points on four goals and 10 assists.  The offensive blueliner was named the WCHA's Defenseman of the Year, as well as an All-WCHA First Team selection, and also turned in a plus/minus rating of +19 over the season.
